Website may be up and down over next few months. I'm currently doing a complete overhaul of everything. Going back to simple individual .htm pages, new overall site theme, sanitizing and cleaning up html of all pages and blog posts, attempting to implement a new tooling and publishing system etc etc.

Mushroom Camp 2006 Construction
Contains a image gallery of my 2006 mushroom camp construction.

It's Batty!
There was a small bat that kept comming back almost every day for the last week or so while I was at mushroom camp this year (2006). Twice it let me pick him up wrap him up in my summer shorts and put it inside my wood stove heated camp!
I even got video of me petting him!

I have been starting to dabble in XNA the last couple of days, and have posted the code for 3 example projects I created.

I have to say that I can read and under stand the C# language and have converted a number of C# projects over to vb.net in the past. Some were small some were large, but this is the first time I have actually written, C# code. I am a vb.net only developer. I have to say, it's an annoying language to write code in. Really annoying. Particularly with case sensitivity, and method calls that don't end with () brackets. If they wanted to create a easy to use platform for making games they should have used vb.net. I am certain first timers, non programmers people who see xna as a chance to get into programming for the first time would not have found the vb language syntax as annoying and finicky as C#.

But any way I am finding it much easier to write C# code then I had expected. But hopefully the XNA team makes good and releases a vb.net flavor of XNA game studio, for us vb'ers out there.

I have setup a page just for XNA here.

More work to come

Here I was thinking Thursday was my last day of work, Phff. Seems now that the people trying to buy the local sawmill that shut down have yet to come thru and pay people so it looks like I will be working streight thru til the 23 or 24 of december.

Anyway I was thinking I'd try to upload my images I took at mushroom camp this seasom. there are over 1500 to up load so, yeah. It could take some time. But first I want to find a better image gallery then what comes with DNN.

Wow it's been almost a month already since my last blog entry! I am still working, at my job. The local sawmill shutdown and I got hired on as a laborer pulling electrical wires and stripping them for the copper. The other day four of us stripped over 11,000 pounds of copper wire, in one day! Which earned out boss about $22,000 CAD dollars. But it looks like this Thursday is going to be my last day working there, so I should have more free time to do things like make blog posts!

Anyway I have been starting to play around with the Axiom Rendering Engine again these last few days, and it seems to be going good so far. I am actually finding that I can get the engine to work fairly easily as compared to my previous attempts at trying to get it to work. I am also thinking I might start posting some content on the Axiom wiki whne I find the time as it seems to be in need of user submissions.

WOW, where does the time go

I have not been adding updates to this site for the last week, basically because i've been busy working at my new job, and I have not had much free time. But I will continue to add content as I find time.

Added more content

Published 11/8/2006 by createdbyx in News | Programming

I just finished adding some more content to the site. All of it was programming related.

I also added a new link to the navigation bar called "Projects". Projects is where I will be placing all of my programming related projects under.

Ok so now I'm retracting the statment I mentioned eirlier about DNN deleting a page that contains child pages. Why? Lets just say I just descovered the recycle bin. *Nuff Said.

Any who, I have added more content to the site that was on the site previously, and I have been working on creating a new skin for this site as well because the default skin "DNN Blue" is utterly craptacular. I will try to get the skin up and running in the next few days.

There are still a number of articles and files yet to be uploaded so stay tuned...

Notice how I kinda stopped updating my site... you can blame CSS (Counter Strike Source) Now that I have torn myself away from it long enough to write this I will try to continue to update this site and add more content.

Sob, ... Shaking fists in air, ... frustration building,...  Breath and release ... Ahhh.

Stupid DNN, tell me who the hell programmed you so I can smack em. Here I am working away trying to put all my content back on to the site, when I have 4 video pages setup and what do I do? I decide to make a slight change so there are not so many nested pages. And guess what happens when you delete a page that contains child pages... all the freakin child pages are deleted along with it. ... Son of a ...

Normally I would not be complaining. But having to spend 2 hours re-creating content that I already spent 2 hours already, is making me remember why I stopped using dnn in the first place. Don't get me wrong it is a decent web portal, but having an exclusive web only portal and trying to add pages and content is slow and tedious.

But anyway progress is still on going with getting this site back up and running, and I still have a heck of a lot of stuff to get done so untill next time If you are using DNN Don't delete pages that contain child pages!!!
